Reds players to walk red carpet for Kids Opening Day April 1

Kids Opening Day is Saturday, April 1, with the Cincinnati Reds taking on the Pittsburgh Pirates at 4:10 p.m., presented by Cutie’s.
 
This special celebration of kids begins with a red carpet parade outside the gates at Great American Ball Park featuring 15 local mascots followed by the Reds players.
 
“I’m looking forward to greeting all the kids and families lining the red carpet,” said Jonathan India, Reds second baseman. “Kids Opening Day is always a great event and I’m excited to see all the fans come out.”
 
The Kids Opening Day red carpet parade kicks off at 11:15 a.m. with kids lining up outside the ballpark and along Joe Nuxhall Way. Cincinnati Reds players and coaches are scheduled to walk the red carpet to greet fans starting at approximately noon.
 
Kids 14 and younger attending the Reds vs. Pirates game will receive a Kids Opening Day Reds Hat presented by Cincinnati Children’s, while supplies last.
 
“Kids Opening Day is one of the best days for kids and families at Great American Ball Park,” said Karen Forgus, Reds Senior Vice President of Business Operations. “Fans of all ages get to see the entire Reds roster walk the red carpet along with over 15 mascots, in addition to many fun activities all around the ballpark.” 
 
Event timeline:
• 11:15 a.m.: Mascot parade on the red carpet
• Noon: Reds player parade on the red carpet
• 1:30 p.m.: First Star Fan Zone gates open
• 4:10 p.m.: Reds vs. Pirates first pitch.
 
Once the Fan Zone gates open at 1:30 p.m., fans can enjoy Kids Opening Day activities in the First Star Fan Zone. The party features circus performers, face painters, mascots and more.
 
After the game, kids can line up to run the bases, with line priority for Reds Heads kids club members.
