The Hillsboro Post 129 baseball team split two games with the Lancaster Post 11 American Legion team Tuesday, with Hillsboro winning the second game of the twin bill on the road.

With the split, Hillsboro moves to 3-15 overall, with the Post 129 American Legion team winning the night cap by a 12-1 score, but losing the first game of the twin bill by a 7-6 score in 11 innings.

Earlier this month, Hillsboro went 1-4 at the annual Troy tournament, and this past weekend, the annual Wooden Bat Tournament held at Shaffer Park was rained out and will not be made up this year.

As for their games at Lancaster on Tuesday evening, the Hillsboro club totaled 12 hits and walked 10 times, while also being hit by a pitch.

Joey Wilson finished 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs in the win, while he was also the winning pitcher, going the distance with seven innings of one-run baseball. The run that crossed the plate was unearned. Wilson also struck out eight batters.

The scoring for the game didn't start until the top of the third with Hillsboro putting up four runs, and eventually holding a three-run lead at 4-1 after four innings.

On the sixth, Post 129 added six runs, and they followed that up with two final runs in the seventh to gain what was their third win of the '15 summer season.

Also at the plate, Ty Crum was 2-for-4 with a home run in the sixth inning, along with five RBIs, three runs and a walk.

Andrew Reuss was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, one run and was hit by a pitch.

From the leadoff spot, Latrell Haithcock collected a hit with two walks and two runs in the nightcap victory. RJ Collard also had a base hit, and Andrew Leadley walked twice and scored one run.

In the first game, the 7-6 loss, Post 129 trailed 3-1, and after six innings had a deficit of 5-2. In the top of the seventh, though, they battled back with three runs as Crothers, Wilson and Collard all crossed home plate, tying the game at 5-5.

The top of the 11th saw Crum cross home plate (he also had a run in the fifth) to take a 6-5 advantage for Hillsboro. The lead didn't last long with Lancaster scoring two runs in the bottom of the 11th to defend their home field for the win.

Post 129 will look to add to the winning side of the standings the rest of the week, as they play at Chillicothe Post 62 on Wednesday, host the Chillicothe Cobras on Thursday at 6 p.m. and host Piqua in a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 3 p.m. On Sunday, Hillsboro is scheduled to host Springfield for a DH at 1 p.m.

On Tuesday, June 30, Post 129 will host J.B. Yeager in a doubleheader, starting at 2 p.m. They will then start the month of July with a home DH vs. Chillicothe Post 62 at 5 p.m.

Post 129 home games are played at Shaffer Park and are free to the public.
