HILLSBORO — The 2012 regular season finale for the Hillsboro Post 129 baseball team was washed away Sunday afternoon, as their makeup game with the Washington C.H. Post 25 Aces ended in the bottom of the fourth inning.
On Saturday, Hillsboro dropped a non-league doubleheader to the Cincinnati Storm by scores of 11-9 and 18-0. On Thursday at Waverly Post 142, the Post 129 squad were winners by a 3-1 score.
Post 129 finishes 10-7 in the summer SCOL league.
In their Thursday win, Post 129 scored two runs in the top of the second and added their run in the top of the third.
In the second inning, Stephen Pappas and Kyle Carson scored runs with two outs with Pappas scoring on a double by Carson on a 1-1 count. Pappas reached the bases on a full-count single. Carson scored on a base hit by Matt Carey.
The third Hillsboro run, scored in the third inning, came with Paul Snyder scoring a run on a groundout by Nathaniel Miller. Snyder initially reached the bases after being hit by a pitch.
For the remainder of the game, Hillsboro had one hit by Corey Walker with a single in the fourth inning. For the game, Hillsboro finished with five hits, including a double by Walker in the first inning as he finished the game 2-for-3.
Post 142 scored their run in the sixth inning.
