Post 129 drops twin bill to Post 62

The league title hopes in the summer SCOL for Hillsboro Post 129 became much harder to achieve on Sunday following two games with Chillicothe Post 62. Hillsboro was unable to gain any wins in the doubleheader, dropping games by scores of 8-2 and 11-5 at Ross County Park.
The losses put Hillsboro with five summer SCOL losses with an overall record of 15-22.
In the first game, Hillsboro scored their two runs in the top of the second. Rounding the bases were Nathaniel Miller and Brandon Wilson off RBI singles by Taylor Smucker and Bryce Bean. Miller and Wilson began the inning with a single (Miller) and double (Wilson). Smucker's base hit came with one out, and Bean's hit was with two outs.
From there on, Hillsboro wasn't able to score any more runs as they stranded three runners on the bases for the remainder of the game.
Also gaining hits for Post 129 were Corey Walker, Paul Snyder (2-for-2, walk, hit by pitch) and Joey Wilson. For the first game, Post 129 totaled eight hits and two walks.
Post 62 scored their runs with four in the third inning, two in the fourth and one each in the fifth and sixth innings.
Game two didn't fare any better for Post 129 as they lost by six runs to the host Post 62 team.
Hillsboro scored one run in the first, and their final four runs were scored in the sixth inning.
Brandon Wilson (2-for-4) scored the first run of the game in the top of the first, reaching the bases with a lead-off triple. Walker (2-for-4) batted in Wilson with a base hit.
Scoring the runs for Post 129 in the sixth inning were Snyder, Miller (2-for-4), Joey Wilson and Luke Taggert. Taggert (1-for-3) batted in three runners with a bases-clearing triple, and Stephen Pappas knocked in Taggert with a ground out to the shortstop.
For game two, Hillsboro totaled eight hits and four walks (Snyder, Tyler Griego, Pappas and Joey Wilson).
Post 62 scored their game-two runs with two in the bottom of the first, followed by a six-run second and capped off with a three-run third.
Post 129 plays Tuesday at OCU against league counterpart Circleville. On Wednesday, Post 129 will host Circleville in a doubleheader at Shaffer Park.
