Pioneer Tigers basketball team returns to Ross County

The Pioneer School debuted the return of its basketball program on Friday, Nov. 21 against the Ross County Christian Academy (RCCA) Student Council team, with a final score of Pioneer Tigers, 76 and RCCA Eagles, 48.
The Pioneer School’s basketball team is coached by P.E. and Health Instructor Lauren Breitenbach who was hired at the school in late 2024. Prior to Breitenbach’s tenure, there hadn’t been a basketball team at The Pioneer School since before the rise of the COVID pandemic.
“I couldn’t be prouder of our basketball players and cheerleaders—every day they show heart, hard work and what it truly means to be a Pioneer Tiger,” said Breitenbach. “None of this would be possible without our incredible staff, the unwavering support of our families, our dedicated school board and boosters club, and a community that stands behind our students in everything they do. Together, we’ve created something truly special here at Pioneer — one team, one community, one Tiger family.”
“It’s great to have our basketball and cheerleading programs back at The Pioneer School,” said Ross County Board of Developmental Disabilities (RCDBB) Superintendent Amy Beeler. “Not only does this give our students another opportunity to be active in our community, but it allows our therapists and staff to utilize additional techniques and resources to help our students excel in sports.”
