Perie named Division II District 14 co-Player of the Year; coaches All-District teams announced

The 2011-12 Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association announced its All-District 14 girls basketball teams, with eight players earning the honors.
Leading the list was McClain senior Jenna Perie (three-year varsity player), who not only made Division II District 14 first-team but was also District 14 co-Player of the Year, sharing the honor with Washington's Jessica Guyett.
Perie this season, scored 156 points (8 ppg), with a season-high of 16 points against Unioto. Perie shot 56.7 percent from the free-throw line (38-of-67) and 65 assists. Defensively, totaled 185 rebounds (56 offensive), nine taken charges, 10 blocked shots and 37 steals.
McClain head coach Dennis Overstake described Perie as a player "he would like to have a whole team of."
"Jenna is the ultimate team player," Overstake said. "She played all five positions for us, and she sacrificed her scoring when she was double- and triple-teamed to make assists.
"She did everything we've asked of her and more. She led the team in rebounding and blocked shots. Jenna was also our third leading scorer and led the team in charges taken."
[[In-content Ad]]Also for Highland County, in Division II, McClain senior Sammy Rooks was voted second-team, while honorable mention honors went to Hillsboro senior Carey Juillerat and McClain freshman Shania Massie. Rooks and Perie were also All-SCOL selections.
Lynchburg-Clay senior Brooke Hertlein earned Division III second-team honors, while teammate, junior Laney Lewis, was third team. Hertlein and Lewis were also All-SHL selections.
In Division IV, Fairfield sophomore Heather Cox (who was also named All-SHL) was named second-team, and teammate, sophomore Shelby Smithson, was named third team.
The Division II Coach of the Year was Donna Peters of Logan Elm. The Division III COY was Jeran Cox (Adena), and the Division IV COY was J.D. McKenzie of Notre Dame.
The Division III POY was Jenny Grigsby (Adena) and the Division IV POY was Jen Arnzen (Notre Dame).
