Since defeating Clark State, the Southern State Patriots added three more wins to their overall record this past week, as they have since defeated Denison JV, Valor Christian College and Ivy Tech to improve their overall record to 21-3 overall.
The win against Valor was the second time this season the Patriots defeated VCC when they were ranked No. 1 in Division II of the USCAA. SSCC defeated VCC, 97-78. In between that win, the Patriots defeated Denison JV, 97-68, and on Friday, SSCC defeated Ivy Tech, 90-82.
The win over Ivy Tech by SSCC gives them the school record for the most wins in a season by any Southern State team.
In their most recent game against Ivy Tech, Isiah Walton led the Patriots with 20 points, followed by Ty Harris with 19, Brandon Whitlock with 17 points and Martise McLaurin with 15 points.
Also scoring for SSCC were Kam Harris with 12 points and Jovon Freshwater with eight points.
Walton totaled a double-double with 14 rebounds. Ty Harris led SSCC with eight rebounds.
In the first half against Ivy Tech, SSCC trailed, 48-44 but responded with a second half where they outscored Ivy Tech, 46-34 for the eight-point win.
SSCC totaled 47 rebounds, four steals, 19 assists and five blocked shots (three by McLaurin and two from Whitlock).
SSCC will play again on Monday, Feb. 11 as they host Miami University-Middletown at 7:30 p.m. SSCC will wrap up the regular season on Wednesday, Feb. 20 with a home game against West Virginia University-Parkersburg at 6 p.m.

[[In-content Ad]]In their heated contest with Valor Christian on Feb. 7 at the Patriot Center, the Patriots completely dominated the first half, outscoring the No. 1 ranked team, 54-31 in the first 20 minutes.
As for the second half, VCC outscored the Patriots, 47-43.
"We played great team basketball throughout the entire game, and dominated Valor on both ends of the floor," SSCC head coach Travis McAvene said. "We proved that we are a Top 5 team in the country and are worthy of getting the opportunity to compete for a national championship in March.
"We just beat the No. 1 team in the country (USCAA Division II) for the second time this season, which says a lot about how talented our program is right now. Martise was phenomenal the whole night and proved why he is one of the best players in the country at our level. We also had good performances from Kamorin, Ty, Brandon and Jovon."
Leading the Patriots in scoring was McLaurin with a game-high 25 points and 13 rebounds. McLaurin added nine blocked shots and four steals.
Ty Harris followed with 19 points, six assists, one block, three rebounds and four steals in the win.
Kam Harris and Whitlock each scored 14 points, while Diondrey Holt and Walton each added eight points.
Also scoring points for SSCC were Jalen Gordon with three and Freshwater with six.
The Patriots totaled 19 assists, 12 blocks, 37 rebounds and 11 steals. SSCC committed 17 turnovers.

Against the Denison JV squad, the Patriots won by a score of 97-68.
The Patriots led 44-37 after the first 20 minutes and completely controlled the second half, outscoring the Denison JV team, 53-31.
McLaurin led with a triple-double as he scored 31 points and added 12 blocked shots and 15 rebounds.
Holt added 17 points, two assists, two blocked shots and three rebounds.
Ty Harris added 15 points and 11 assists for a double-double.
Walton also collected a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Gordon totaled 11 points with four rebounds, while teammates Dante Bryant added four points and Freshwater ended the game with six points.
