Patriots are 4-for-4; defeat Miami University-Hamilton

On Saturday, the Southern State Patriots left the court with a win under their belt for the fourth time this season, defeating Miami University-Hamilton, 99-87 at MUH.

SSCC led 53-26 at the half. In the final 20 minutes, MUH outscored the visitors 51-46, as the Patriots (4-0) shot 50 percent from the field, including nine 3-pointers.

Leading SSCC in scoring was Diondrey Holt and Ty Harris each with 18 points, while Isiah Walton totaled 17 and Kamorin Harris added 11, giving SSCC four players in double figures.

Ty Harris and Kamorin Harris each collected a double-double, with Ty Harris adding 10 assists and Kamorin Harris grabbing 14 rebounds.  

Brandon Whitlock ended with nine points (three blocked shots), while Hillsboro graduate Tyrand Cumberland and Jalen Gordon each totaled eight points.

Keontez Malone finished with six points, and Dresean Mathis rounded out the Patriot scoring with four.

As for the players in double figures, Holt shot 66 percent from the field, including one 3-pointer. Ty Harris also shot 66 percent from the field, shooting a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor. Harris was also 5-of-7 from the free-throw line. Kamorin Harris also sank five field goals.

Walton was 3-of-5 from the free-throw line, while adding seven two-point baskets.

As a team, SSCC had 49 rebounds (14 offensive) with 23 assists, 10 steals and six blocked shots.

SSCC will play again on Monday when they host Sinclair Community College at 7:30 p.m.
