One inning dooms Lady Indians; fall to MT

EBER — Though the Hillsboro Lady Indians took an early multi-run lead, one rough inning by the Lady Indians led to a win by the Miami Trace Lady Panthers Monday, defeating visiting HHS, 12-7 at MTHS.
Following the top half of the the first inning of the South Central Ohio League matchup, the Lady Indians tallied five runs, with Ali Stratton, Taylor Moberly, Amber Everhart, Haylee Wehrung and Kayla Deatley all rounding the bases for a 5-0 lead, as HHS kept MT hitless through the first three innings.
HHS began the inning with Stratton being hit by a pitch, followed by Moberly also taking first after being hit by a pitch. Everhart, with a full count, reached first on a error. Wehrung doubled in some runs, and Deatley reached in a fielder's choice.
The final two runs for HHS, who have two league wins, were scored in the fourth inning with Stratton and Sara Ray crossing home plate, with the RBIs by Katie Baker.
[[In-content Ad]]As for the Lady Panthers, who are second-place in the SCOL, they scored one run in the bottom of the first and then broke out for eight runs in the fourth for a 9-7 lead over the Lady Indians. MT added three more runs in the sixth inning.
For the game, MT totaled eight hits, with six in the fourth inning. The final two hits came in the sixth.
HHS finished the game with seven hits, including a 2-for-2 game by Moberly, who also had a sacrifice at the plate. Also gaining hits for HHS were Stratton, Everhart (a double), Haylee Wehrung, Cailin Wehrung and Haley Wisman.
HHS will play again on Wednesday when they host the London Lady Red Raiders at 5 p.m.
