Ohio University Athletics continued its recent history of solid Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores, as announced by the NCAA in its 2021-22 data report.

Ohio recorded a department-wide single-year APR score of 986 for 2021, marking the seventh year in a row the department has scored a 980 or better. This year's mark is four points higher than last year's mark of 982.

Ohio also tallied a department-wide multi-year APR score of 985, putting the Bobcats well above the NCAA mandated minimum four-year score of 930 required to compete in the 2022-23 postseason.

NCAA members chose the 930 standard because that score predicts, on average, a 50-percent graduation rate. Additionally, teams must earn a four-year APR of at least 930 to avoid penalties.

Eight of the intercollegiate programs that represent Ohio achieved a perfect 1,000 single-year APR score, with the men's basketball, men's cross country, men's golf, women's basketball, women's cross country, women's golf, softball and volleyball teams attaining a perfect single-year APR score.

"Our student-athletes once again improved an already high benchmark with this year's APR scores," Ohio Director of Athletics Julie Cromer said. "This achievement is a demonstration of all the time and hard work our student-athletes, faculty, staff and coaches put in on the academic side.

“We are extremely proud of our eight Bobcat teams receiving a perfect single-year APR score. These continued academic achievements are proof that we are preparing our student-athletes for graduation and continued success beyond their time here at Ohio University."

The APR is a real-time measure of eligibility, retention and graduation of student-athletes competing on every NCAA Division I athletics team. The most recent scores are based on a multi-year rate that averages scores from 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22 academic years.
