Ohio football alumnus Alvin Floyd named Bobcats’ assistant strength and conditioning coach
Former Ohio University football program safety Alvin Floyd will be joining the Ohio Bobcats' coaching staff as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, as announced by Director of Strength & Conditioning Jake Miller May 1.
Floyd (North Miami Beach, Fla.) was a staple in the Bobcats' defense from 2017-22, playing in 52 games. The Florida native recorded 13 starts in 2022, finishing third in total tackles with 74. Floyd also had five tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception and five pass breakups on the season. His performance against Ball State (Nov. 15) earned him Mid-American Conference Player of the Week accolades.
Floyd captained the 2021 squad and finished the season with 62 tackles. 2.5 tackles for loss, one interception and forced one fumble. The safety made his collegiate debut in the 2018 season-opening 38-32 win over Howard (Sept. 1).
Off the field, Floyd has been a personal trainer since 2022, designing personalized program plans for a variety of clients. He also interned with the Ohio football program from May 2022-June 2022, designing workout programs and monitoring student-athletes' body composition among other duties.
Floyd also has a long history of community service in the greater Athens area. He served as a youth mentor volunteer in the Athens Beacon School "Beacon Buddy" program in 2020, chaperoning field trips and helping with class assignments. Floyd also volunteered at the Logan Food Bank as well as Albertsons Tackle Hunger, helping package grocery boxes for families on a local and global scale. In 2019, he volunteered at Athens High School as a station coach, instructing over 20 student-athletes in skills-based drills.
Floyd is a two-time Ohio University graduate, earning a master's of science in recreation and sports science in 2022 and a bachelor's of science in physical education in 2020.
