NATIONAL CHAMPS! Ohio State thumps Oregon, 42-20

Running back Ezekiel Elliott gained 246 yards on 36 carries Monday night to lead the Ohio State Buckeyes to a thrilling, 42-20 victory over the Oregon Ducks in the NCAA national championship game at Arlington, Texas.
Elliott surpassed the 200-yard mark for the third game in a row. Meanwhile, in just his third career start, OSU quarterback Cardale Jones accounted for 280 yards of offense and two touchdowns.
"What a thrilling victory! I have been impressed all season by how this talented group of men has come together as a team, said OSU President Michael V. Drake. "I have been equally impressed with how they have grown through triumph and adversity to arrive at this crowning moment.
"Tonight was a credit to each of them, our coaches, their parents, teachers, friends, fans and all who have guided and supported them.
"Congratulations as well to an outstanding Oregon team who helped to make this a night to remember. How fitting that the first ever college football playoff championship is won by The Ohio State University, one of the most storied programs in all of college football."
The win marked the Buckeyes' eighth national title under four different head coaches: Urban Meyer, Jim Tressel, Woody Hayes and Paul Brown.
