SARDINIA — The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs continued their path towards their third consecutive Division I Southern Hills League title in small ball fashion Friday, scoring five runs for a 5-1 victory over the Eastern Brown Warriors.

The league win at EBHS puts the Mustangs in the driver's seat in the Divison I standings, as they are now 8-2 in league play, with a three-game lead over the Warriors, who are 5-5 in SHL games, with three league games left on the schedule.

The remaining Division I teams of the SHL have no more than two league wins each. A win on Tuesday at home against North Adams, and LC will clinch the outright league title for the third straight year.

On Friday, the Mustangs scored three runs in the second, one in the third and one in the fifth for their five-run total. Eastern's run was scored in the bottom of the second inning.

Of the eight LC hits, half of them were from the duo of Terry Campbell and Tyler Davidson, as Campbell was 2-for-3 including a double and triple, along with one run and one RBI. Davidson went 2-for-4 with one run, one RBI and two stolen bases.

On Wednesday, April 25, they will travel to take on the Whiteoak Wildcats, and on Thursday, April 26, LC will host Peebles. All three games are SHL games starting at 5 p.m.
