Mustangs win 2nd straight

This past weekend was one of winning for the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs as they not only won their Hall of Fame game Friday night, but turned around 24 hours later and won in dominating fashion against the Blanchester Wildcats by a score of 85-41.
The non-league win for the Mustangs is their third win of the season and their third victory in their past four games, after starting the season 0-7.
The loss moves BHS to 0-13 on the season.
In their three wins this season, LC has outscored their opponents, 207-140 as the Mustangs have averaged 69 points per game in those wins, while their opponents have averaged 46.2 ppg in the three LC wins.
LC (3-8) led 22-15 after the first quarter, and at halftime, LC took a 43-22 lead as they outscored the Wildcats, 21-7.
In the third, LC continued their winning pace as they added 22 points to their total, winning the third frame, 22-5. In the fourth, with the game well in hand, LC won the eight-minute span, 20-14.

Leading LC in scoring was Alec Smith with 16 points, followed by Devin Pierson and Ryan Inman with 13 points each. Scott Cawood and Jacob Skaggs each totaled nine points in the win.
Smith added a team-high seven rebounds, three steals, three assists and two blocked shots. Inman added five rebounds, three steals and one assist.
Pierson and Gage Waits each led LC with five assists. LC totaled 13 turnovers.
Also for LC, Waits, Tyler Allen and Aaron Little each scored three, while Marc Blankenship added four. Ethan Simmons totaled six points, as did Josh Goble.
In JV play, LC defeated BHS, 56-27, and in the freshman game, the Mustangs won 40-32 as the LC boys and girls teams combined to go 5-0 on the day against Blanchester.
The Mustangs are scheduled to play again on Friday, Jan. 18 as they will host North Adams in a Southern Hills Athletic Conference matchup.
