Mustangs tally 18 runs, 15 hits in win over Greyhounds

MANCHESTER — The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs' bats did work Wednesday evening at Manchester, as LC tallied 18 runs, 15 hits and 14 RBIs for an 18-7, five-inning win over the Manchester Greyhounds.
The Southern Hills League win by LC moves them to 6-2 in the league and 8-7 overall.
LC scored three runs in the second and six in the third for their first nine runs, and in the same span, the Greyhounds scored five runs to give the visiting Mustangs a 9-5 advantage.
LC moved their lead to 15-5 midway through the fourth with their second six-run inning and scored their final three runs in the top of the fifth.
Manchester scored their final two runs in the bottom of the fourth.
The Mustangs' five players each finished with at least two hits on the day, with Ryan Inman going 3-for-3 with four runs, one walk and one RBI. Inman was also the winning pitcher, going 1.2 innings of relief, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks. He struck out one batter.[[In-content Ad]]
Joey Butler was 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs, ones double and one steal.
Wes Pierson finished 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs, one double and a stolen base. Scott Cawood was 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs, two RBIs and one walk.
Josh Bauer followed at 2-for-2 with five RBIs, three runs, two steals and one sacrifice fly.
Terry Campbell had one hit, two runs, one walk and a steal. Tyler Davidson had one hit, one run and one steal. Gage Waits also had one hit, while adding two RBIs. Chaz Lanier scored one run and had two stolen bases, along with adding three assists. Alex Pinkerton and Dakota Baker each had a stolen base.
