Mustangs shutout G-Men

GEORGETOWN — The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs gained their third win of the soccer season Monday evening as they defeated the Georgetown G-Men 2-0 at GHS.

In the battle of former Southern Hills League counterparts, the Mustangs scored one goal in each half, with one coming off the foot of Brandon Storer as he scored the game's first goal with 11:32 left on the first-half clock off a cross kick by Devin Pierson, followed by a pass from Noah Scott.

[[In-content Ad]]Gage Waits scored the second LC goal with 29:49 left in the second half off a penalty kick.

"This was our best performance to date," LC coach Dennis West said. "We moved several players to different positions, and it brought a very positive result. Everyone contributed to the win."

Evan Bedard had eight saves at goal for the Mustangs as LC just outshot the G-Men, 9-8.

The win moves LC to an overall mark of 3-3-1. In league play, the Mustangs are 1-2.

LC will play again on Wednesday when they host Ripley.
