Mustangs rout Peebles for league win

It was another productive Southern Hills League contest for the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs Friday evening, defeating the Peebles Indians 15-3 in five innings for a run-rule win.
The Mustangs (5-2, 7-7) scored five runs in the first inning, along with five more in the second inning for a 10-0 lead.
PHS scored three runs in the third, only to be answered by LC with one run in the fourth and four more in the top of the fifth.
LC totaled 13 hits on the day, led by Chaz Lanier with a 3-for-3 day at the plate, including two runs, one RBI and one walk.
Ryan Inman, Wes Pierson and Joey Butler each were 2-for-4 with Inman tallying two RBIs and one run; Pierson collecting three runs, including a double, along with two RBIs; and Butler finishing with three RBIs and two runs.
[[In-content Ad]]Also collecting one hit each were Terry Campbell (one RBI, a triple, one walk), Scott Cawood (two runs, two RBIs, one hit by pitch), Josh Bauer (two RBIs, one walk) and Gage Waits (one run, one walk).
Zach Mahoney scored two runs and walked twice, while Alex Pinkerton scored one run. As a team, LC totaled six walks and seven stolen bases, including two by Mahoney.
The pitching win went to Waits, who improved to 2-1 on the season. Waits pitched five innings, allowing three runs (three earned) on nine hits and one walk. He struck out one batter.
LC will play again on Tuesday, April 17 when they travel to face Manchester at 5 p.m.
