Mustangs move win streak to 4 straight

A lot has changed for the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs since the new year rolled in. LC isn't the same team that began the year 0-7, in fact, they've changed a lot and adapted to what they can do well. In return, they won their fourth consecutive game, Tuesday, defeating the Huntington Huntsmen, 75-46.
The non-conference win by the Mustangs puts them at 8-11 overall. The win also makes them 8-4 in their last 12 games.
[[In-content Ad]]On Tuesday, at LC, the Mustangs began strong for the third consecutive game with at least 20 points in the opening quarter, as they led HHS, 20-12 after the first frame.
After tallying a second frame of 16-12, the Mustangs led 36-24 at halftime.
In the third, LC continued their double-digit scoring, putting together an 18-11 frame, along with a final eight minutes of 21-11.
Senior Alec Smith continued his recent tear, this time scoring 19 points, and adding yet another double-double with 17 rebounds.
The leading scorer for LC was junior Ryan Inman with 21 points and six rebounds.
Freshman Devin Pierson finished with 11 points and four assists, while junior Gage Waits finished with nine points and 10 assists.
Also scoring for the Mustangs was Tyler Allen with five points, followed by Jacob Skaggs, Marc Blankenship and Ethan Simmons each with two points. Scott Cawood finished with four points.
LC shot 5-of-10 from beyond the arc, and 25-of-43 from two-point range. From the free-throw line, LC was 10-of-18.
The Mustangs will be back in action on Friday night as they host West Union, followed with a Saturday night game vs. Manchester. Both games are Southern Hills Athletic Conference matchups to end the regular season.
