The Lynchburg-Clay golf team qualified for district tournaments on Wednesday (Sept. 26) by shooting a 363 … taking the third and final spot out of 14 teams in the sectional round.

Just like the Southern Hills League tournament, in which LC took first place over West Union, the Mustangs claimed the third and final spot to reach districts by one stroke, this time over SHL rival North Adams.

The sectional tournament was delayed several times due to rain, and after the last delay, the Lynchburg-Clay team had a total of five holes to play and a pretty good idea that it was going to be close.[[In-content Ad]]

The berth into the district tournament came down to Linus Stoltz needing a par on the par 5 18th hole. Stoltz was able to put his second shot pin high next to the green and chip and two putt for the par.

The final scores for the Mustangs at sectionals were: Linus Stoltz (88), Tristan Wilbanks (91), Marc Blankenship (92) and Zach Blankenship (92).

LC will compete at the district tournament on Tuesday (Oct. 2) at Cumberland Trails Golf Course in Pataskala.
