The Highland County Press-
The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs traveled to Ripley Tuesday evening and tangled with their Southern Hills Athletic Conference counterparts for a 69-58 victory in a game that featured a lot of up and down play.

The first quarter saw the host Blue Jays take a 15-13 advantage, but that didn’t last for long, as the visiting Mustangs outscored the Blue Jays, 17-8 in the second quarter for a halftime score which saw the Mustangs lead 30-23.

That nine-point second-quarter scoring differential proved to be the difference maker, as the two teams played to a 14-14 stalemate in the third.

However, in the final eight minutes of regulation scoring increased as the Mustangs managed to take the quarter, 25-21.

Pacing the Mustangs in scoring was sophomore Devin Pierson with 27 points.

Senior Ryan Inman followed his teammate with 14 points, and Josh Ahrmann rounded out the double-digit column with 12 points.[[In-content Ad]]

Inskeep led Ripley with 21 points, followed by Whitt with 15 and Holton Hamilton with 13.

The win moves the Mustangs to 4-1 in SHAC play and 5-2 overall. Ripley falls to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the SHAC.

LC will be back in action Friday night as they travel to Fayetteville for another SHAC contest. JV play will start at 6 p.m.
