FAYETTEVILLE — The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs were unable to overcome a strong first half by the Fayetteville Rocket and with that, they suffered their first loss of the season, dropping the Southern Hills League match 3-1 Saturday at FHS.

LC (0-1, 1-1) was unable to stop Fayetteville's Christian Connor in the first half as he scored three goals in a span of two minutes. Connor beat the LC defense all three times at the 26:49, 25:51 and 24:50 marks of the first half.

"Giving up three goals in two minutes is simply unacceptable," LC coach Dennis West said. "We played good soccer except for those two minutes.

Bedard for LC had 13 saves.
