Mustangs fall to Peebles

DODSONVILLE — The Peebles Indians scored 21 points in the first quarter, and that was too much for the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs to overcome, as PHS defeated the Mustangs, 61-52 Saturday.

The game, which was postponed one day due to weather, was controlled early on by Peebles with a 21-4 lead after the first frame.

For the next three quarters, the Mustangs outscored the visiting Indians 48-40, as LC outscored the Indians 17-15 in the second, 17-12 in the third and 14-13 in the final quarter.

Leading LC in scoring were Ryan Inman and Alec Smith with 18 points each.

Also scoring for the Mustangs were Gage Waits and Devin Pierson with seven points each and Tyler Allen with two points.

Leading PHS were Trent Arey with 19 points and Beau Justice with 18 points. Also in double figures for PHS was Mason Johnson with 11 points.

The loss sends LC to 4-11 overall and 2-7 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference. PHS moves to 12-5 overall and 8-2 in the SHAC.

LC plays again on Jan. 29 when they host Eastern Brown in SHAC play.
