Mustangs fall in OT to Peebles

The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs went into overtime with the Peebles Indians, but it was the Indians who came out on top, 70-66 in overtime Tuesday at Peebles High School in Southern Hills Athletic League play.

The score was tied at 55 after four quarters of regulation, but it was Peebles who outscored the Mustangs 15-11 in the overtime period.

LC led 55-50 with 30 seconds left in regulation.

Leading the Mustangs in scoring was Alec Smith with 29 points and 17 rebounds for a double-double.


[[In-content Ad]]Following Smith was Gage Waits with 17 points and two assists. Jacob Skaggs followed with six points and nine rebounds, while Ryan Inman totaled six points and seven rebounds in the loss.

For the Indians, Beau Justice led with 31 points, while Trent Arey finished with 25 points.

In JV play, LC defeated Peebles 49-47. Leading LC were Christian Inman with 17 points and Noah Buck with 14.

The loss moves LC to 0-5 overall this season. The Mustangs will play again on Saturday, Dec. 22 as they face the McClain Tigers in the SCOL vs. SHAC Challenge at 6 p.m. at Hillsboro High School.
