Mustangs fall at East Clinton

LEES CREEK — After splitting a doubleheader on Saturday, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs came up just a bit short on Monday, giving up the game-winning run in the seventh inning to the East Clinton Astros en route to a 5-4 non-league loss.
LC tallied just three hits on the day, including a double from Wes Pierson. Also getting a base hit were Tyler Davidson and Josh Bauer.
Scoring runs were Pierson, Davidson, Bauer and Chaz Lanier. RBIs were credited to Pierson and Butler. Gage Waits tallied a sacrifice fly.
LC led early at 3-0 following the first inning, but the score was tied in the bottom of the second as EC scored three runs.
[[In-content Ad]]LC regained the lead in the top of the fourth with a run, but again, EC was there in the bottom of the fifth with a run of their own, tying the score at 4-4.
The final run came off the EC bats in the bottom of the seventh, gaining the walk-off win.
Lynchburg-Clay tallied five walks in the game by Pierson, Davidson, Bauer, Lanier and Waits. Davidson, Bauer and Lanier each had a stolen base.
The loss was charged to Waits, who pitched 6 1-3 innings, as he finished with three strikeouts.
