Mustangs earn 2nd straight win, defeat Paint Valley

DODSONVILLE — For the second consecutive day, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs left the diamond with a victory, this time defeating the Paint Valley Bearcats 10-4 at Lynchburg-Clay High School.

The Friday non-league win began tied at 1-1, and after a second inning where each team scored two runs, the scoreboard read 3-3.

LC took a one-run lead after three innings, but PV was there to tie the score in the fourth with a one-run inning.

In their final two at-bats, LC took control, scoring two runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth for the six-run win.

The Mustangs (2-2) finished with 14 hits and four errors, while PV totaled six hits and four errors.

Zach Mahoney was credited with the win. Mahoney threw 69 pitches, 46 for strikes. Of the 26 batters faced, Mahoney threw a first-pitch strike to 18 of them, finishing with two strikeouts.

Also pitching in relief was Ryan Inman, who threw 34 pitches, 18 for strikes against seven batters. Inman struck out one batter.

At the plate for LC, Inman had three hits, and teammates Tyler Davidson and Gage Waits tallied two hits. Scott Cawood drew three walks.

Wes Pierson for LC had two RBIs, and Davidson collected one RBI.
