Mustangs drop 4th straight

Lead Summary
By
The Highland County Press-
One big inning by the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs wasn't enough to offset the gradual scoring of the visiting North Adams Green Devils earlier this week, as LC dropped their fourth consecutive game of the season.

The 11-8 Southern Hills Athletic Conference loss to the Green Devils  puts LC at 1-3 in the SHAC and 1-7 overall.

LC's most productive inning was the second as they tallied six runs and added two more in a rally attempt in the bottom of the seventh.

NA chipped away at the Mustangs, scoring once in the third and adding two runs in each of the next three innings. The Green Devils took control with a four-run top of the seventh inning.

LC totaled 10 hits in the game with Scott Cawood leading the way at 3-for-4 with one run and two RBIs. Of the three hits by Cawood, he collected a triple and a double.

Cory Snider, Ryan Inman, Chaz Lanier, Alex Pinkerton, Kendall Vilvens, Josh Bauer and Gage Waits each had one hit.

Snider and Waits each had two RBIs, with Snider hitting a triple and Waits swinging for a double.

Inman and Lanier forced one walk apiece, while Inman had two stolen bases.

The loss was charged to Wesley Smith. The no decision went to Inman. Also pitching was Lanier in relief, as the LC pitchers combined for eight strikeouts, 10 walks and nine earned runs.

The Green Devils had six hits.
