Mootispaw qualifies for national cross-country event

McClain graduate and Asbury University (Ky.) freshman Caleb Mootispaw advanced to the 57th Annual NAIA Men's Cross-Country National Championship in Vancouver, Wash.

Mootispaw finished in 10th place at the KIAC meet this past weekend with a time of 28:16. Teammate Todd Yoder was 11th as he also advanced to the national meet.

The meet will take place on Nov. 17 at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.

This season, Mootispaw raced in the season-opening meet at Wilmore, Ky., where he finished in second with a time of 18:31.10.

Later in the season, Mootispaw returned to competition with a first-place finish in the Kentucky Christian University "Late Knight's Run," racing to a time of 27:18 in the 4.68 mile event on Oct. 26.

For his first-place finish, Mootispaw was named the conference's runner of the week on Monday, Oct. 29.
