The McClain Lady Tigers gave their all against a quality Jackson team in their season opener but were unable to return to Greenfield with a season-opening win, dropping game one by a 49-37 score, Monday at JHS.
McClain (0-1) was held to just five points in the first quarter of the non-conference game, but their defense stepped up and caused problems for JHS all game long.
Those problems were evident in the first half by holding the Ironladies to nine points in the first frame and six points in the second.
MHS, though, scored very little in the first half as well, having just nine total points after the first two quarters. MHS forced JHS to 11 turnovers in the first half.
JHS (2-0) outscored MHS in the second half, 34-28, including a 13-10 third quarter and 21-18 in the final eight minutes.
