McClain 7th & 8th grade girls earn tournament wins

GREENFIELD – The Greenfield McClain 7th and 8th grade girls’ basketball teams opened their tournament run with strong performances, securing victories against Chillicothe and Hillsboro in the first round.

The 7th-grade team claimed a 22-13 win, with Palmer Mitchell leading the way with 7 points, followed by Emmalyn Paugh with 5, Lyndi Cockerill with 4, Kylenn Legge and Stella Henson each contributing 2, and Ariane Cox and Ava Mankin adding 1 point each. They will face Miami Trace in the championship game on Saturday.

The 8th-grade team battled to a 47-43 victory, led by Lila Banks with 15 points, while Kalliegh Freeze and Kenzie West each added 12. Brylee Douglas contributed 5 points, and Emily Turner rounded out the scoring with 3. The 8th graders will face Washington Court House in the Championship game on Saturday.

This marks an exciting start to the tournament for the McClain Tigers as they look to continue their success.
