BLANCHESTER — The McClain Tiger wrestling team competed and battled their way to a fourth-place finish in the annual Blanchester Holiday Duals, a two-day wrestling event where teams compete in nine matches over two days.
The host Blanchester team won the tournament with a perfect 9-0 mark, and the Batavia Bulldogs were able to post an 8-1 mark to secure the runner-up trophy.
The McClain Tigers placed fourth place at 6-3, just behind Cincinnati Northwest at 7-2.
Waynesville was fifth, followed by Cincinnati Archbishop McNicholas, Clinton-Massie, Morrow Little Miami, Cincinnati Indian Hill and St. Bernard Roger Bacon.
Individually for the Tigers, senior Roscoe East led MHS with a perfect two days at 9-0 in the 170-pound class.
Coty Barnhart (132), Jake Badgley (138) and Brandon Davis (220) all secured eight victories with only one defeat.
Jamaine Barnhart (113) was 6-0, while Ethan Paul (160), Gable Smith (182) and Dylan Trefz (285) all finished at 6-3 overall in the two-day event.

Cody Black (145) tallied a winning record at 5-4, while Jarrett Milnes (195) went 4-5. Kylee Stroud (106) went 3-6, and Kaleb Smith (126) was 2-7. Damon Buckmaster (285) was 0-1.
Two Tigers have now passed the 20-win mark for the season as East and Davis both have identical 20-3 records.
McClain now stands at 8-3 in duals and 18-9 in tournaments.
In the tournament, Batavia defeated McClain 39-36, but MHS followed that with a 60-24 win over Morrow Little Miami.
MHS then defeated Cincinnati Indian Hill, 60-12, and Clinton-Massie, 42-33.
Cincinnati Northwest defeated MHS, 45-33, but the Tigers again rallied to top Cincinnati Archbishop McNicholas, 42-36. MHS also defeated Waynesville, 60-18, and St. Bernard Roger Bacon, 54-18.
Blanchester defeated MHS, 54-17.
The Tigers will return to action on Jan. 4 and 5. On Jan. 4, the varsity and JV teams will travel to Lakota East's Freshman Building to compete against Franklin Bishop Fenwick and Cooper, which is from Union, Ky. The Tigers' JV squad will return to action the next morning at the Washington Reserve Tournament in Washington Court House.
