At the grand re-opening of the Hillsboro Kroger store on Harry Sauner Road, Cincinnati Reds baseball announcers Marty and Thom Brennaman signed autographs and spoke with fans on Thursday morning.
The Kroger store held raffles and gave out gift cards to the first 300 visitors for the event.
Thom Brennaman spoke to The Highland County Press about being a part of such events.
"It's always exciting … people need to go do their grocery shopping somewhere," Thom said. "It doesn't matter if it is a big city or in small town rural America, Kroger does a great job of making sure people have the best of the best. They've poured a lot of money into this, and it is great to always see so many folks we probably wouldn't get a chance to meet."
Thom continued to speak about meeting the fans.
"There is nothing better," Thom said of meeting the fans of the Reds. "We wouldn't have our jobs, and the players wouldn't be playing in front of the crowds of people, listening on the radio or watching on TV without the people we are meeting right here."
Hall of Famer Marty Brennaman spoke about the Reds organization and their offseason thus far.

So far this offseason, the Reds have signed utility player Skip Schumaker and traded catcher Ryan Hanigan to the Tampa Bay Rays in a three-team trade. The Reds received left-handed pitcher David Holmberg from the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Reds also hired a new manager in former pitching coach Bryan Price, who replaces Dusty Baker after seven seasons.
"It's been a quiet offseason so far," he said. "They've made a couple moves to strengthen their bench, but quite honestly, I don't think they've done anything to equal what the (St. Louis) Cardinals have done. That's the team that everybody has to shoot at, as they've set the bar.
"Hopefully the Reds will come up with a big trade that will really strengthen their everyday lineup before their season gets under way."
In a press release, Kroger store manager Brent Wilson said of the re-grand opening, “It’s a great honor to be part of the Hillsboro community. Everyone knows everyone here. We see our customers several times a week, sometimes several times in one day.
"My team and I are so excited about the new updates and the fresh look of the store. We’re going to make this a fun weekend for our customers."
