Mangus wins at Pickerington

The Fairfield Lions' cross-country season got under way Saturday when the Lions traveled to Pickaway County's Pickerington North High School, as junior Michael Mangus won the season-opening event.
The high school boys team finished sixth out of 16 schools competing in the Bengal Division.
Mangus' first-place finish came with a time of 16:50.
Other FHS results included: John Cain (30th), 19:02; Dustin Willey (51st), 19:54; Wyatt Crothers (63rd), 20:05; and Blake Hildebrant (86th), 20:53, who was in fifth place during the race but was later injured.
Also running for the Lions were Brant Huff, Matthew Leach, Zach Schmitz, Caleb Huff, Jacob Rammel and Layne Irvin.

The Lady Lions did not have a complete team, but competing were Kaitlin Evans in 91st place with a time of 24:42 and Kaylee Crum, 127th place with a time of 26:41.
The Fairfield Middle School boys finished second to Pickerington Lakeview. Leading the way were Klay Walker in second with a time of 11:47. Wyatt Evans followed in sixth at 12:06, and Trent Tate was eighth at 12:15.
Mason Cain finished 21st at 12:55, and Matthew Mangus was 41st with a time of 13:32. Also competing were Tucker Ayres, Noah Richmond and Bailee Willey.
The Fairfield Middle School girls finished sixth out of 14 teams. Grace Shope led the Lady Lions finishing seventh with a time of 13:50.
Also finishing for the girls middle school team were Codi Haines (24th), 14:44; Carly Arnold (33rd), 15:28; Kara Walters (41st), 15:51; and Shay Turner (42nd), 15:54. Also running were Andrea Spears and Lauren Greene.
