Local athletes win SCOL track & field championships

WASHINGTON C.H. — The Hillsboro Indians and McClain Tigers combined to win seven different South Central Ohio League titles on Thursday in Washington C.H.

Hillsboro's Leah Pence finished with two SCOL titles, winning the girls 100-meter hurdles and pole vaulting events.

Also for Hillsboro, Jarrod Hart won the 800m run.
 
The McClain Tigers won four league titles, with Felicity Peabody winning the girls 400m dash and Luis Rivas winning the boys 400m dash events.

Taylor Faulconer was the winner of the girls 300m hurdles, and Caleb Mootispaw won the boys 3200m run.

Washington won the girls title with 164 points. HHS was third with 93.33, and MHS was sixth with 63.50.

London won the boys title with 142 points. MHS was second with 110, and HHS was fifth with 81.

In the 100m hurdles, Pence won with a time of 16.59. Teammate Kayla Savage was third at 17.46. McClain's McKenzie Figgins was eighth.

Hillsboro's Quade Mullenix was third in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.93. David Abernathy (HHS) was fourth (17.02) and Evan Mustard (MHS) was seventh (18.07).
Amelia Gustin (HHS) was fifth in the 100m dash (13.79), and Monique Burns (HHS) was eighth (14.15).

McClain's Zach Matracia was second in the boys 100m dash with a time of 11.60. Seth Willman (MHS) was fifth (11.77), and Christian Wildey (HHS) was eighth (12.35).

In the girls 4x200m relay, the Lady Tiger team of Taylor Faulconer, Kaitlyn Faulconer, Sammy Rooks and Felicity Peabody placed third at 1:55.17. Hillsboro (Brooke Shafer, Taylor Davis, Hannah Opst and Leah Pence) was fourth at 1:55.50.

McClain was second in the boys 4x200 relay with a time of 1:34.35. Running for the Tigers were Daniel White, Aaron Pryor, Zach Matracia and Luis Rivas.
 
Maddie Colliver (HHS) was fifth in the girls 1600m run at 6:02.73. Bailey Patton (HHS) was eighth (6:21.89). McClain's Sarah Davis was 11th at 6:53.18, and Kelly Mustard (MHS) was 12th at 6:58.44.

In the boys 1600m run, Collin Rothwell (HHS) was fourth with a time of 4:43.93. Caleb Mootsipaw (MHS) was fifth (4:47.59), Chris Eltman was ninth (5:20.14) and Nathan Boone (HHS) was 10th at 5:23.40.

The Hillsboro girls finished in third place in the 4x100m relay, consisting of Amelia Gustin, Monique Burns, Taylor Stanforth and Leah Pence, with a time of 53.74. McClain was seventh at 57.73. Their team consisted of Grace Orr, Kaitlin Faulconer, Sammy Rooks and McKenzie Figgins.

MHS was second in the boys 4x100m relay with Seth Willman, Aaron Pryor, Jordan Goble and Zach Matracia finishing with a time of 45.27. HHS was fifth at 46.77. HHS runners were Jordan O'Conner, Britt Wells, David Abernathy and Jarrod Hart.

Felicity Peabody (MHS) won the girls 400m dash with a time of 1:01.40. Hillsboro's Brooke Shafer was seventh at 1:07.59.

Luis Rivas won the boys 400m dash at 50.24. Ricky Coyle (HHS) was sixth (55.57), and Jordan Goble (MHS) was eighth (57.22).

Taylor Faulconer (MHS) won the girls 300m hurdles at 49.11. Taylor Stanforth (HHS) was fourth at 51.20, and Kayla Savage (HHS) was fifth at 51.42.

Hillsboro's David Abernathy was fourth in the boys 300m hurdles with a time of 44.18. Joe Barnhart (MHS) was seventh (46.99), and Evan Mustard (MHS) was eighth (47.12).

Alyssa Anderson (MHS) was fifth in the girls 800m run at 2:36.59. Hannah Opst (HHS) was sixth at 2:37.66. Jamie Gustin (HHS) placed 10th at 2:50.00, and Sarah Davis (MHS) was 12th at 3:23.82.

Jarrod Hart (HHS) was first in the boys 800m run at 1:59.78. Sam Henry (MHS) was seventh at 2:09.98 and Jimmy Free (MHS) was eighth at 2:12.04. Joe Beery (HHS) was 14th at 2:43.26.

Brooke Shafer (HHS) was sixth in the girls 200m dash at 29.34. Taylor Faulconer (MHS) was eighth at 31.45.

In the boys 200m dash, Zach Matracia (MHS) was seventh at 24.34, and Luis Rivas (MHS) was eighth at 24.94.

Hillsboro's Bailey Patton (HHS) was fifth at 14:18.23 in the girls 3200m run. Maggie Tamborski (HHS) was ninth at 15:12.31. Lauren Howard (MHS) was 11th at 17:18.32.
Caleb Mootispaw (MHS) won the boys 3200m run at 10:17.99. Hillsboro's Collin Rothwell was second at 10:31.67. Nathan Boone (HHS) was seventh at 11:48.67, and Evan Onusko (MHS) was ninth at 12:22.11.

In the 4x400m girls relay, HHS was fourth at 4:32.74. Running for HHS were Brooke Shafer, Maddie Colliver, Taylor Stanforth and Hannah Opst. MHS was sixth with Kaitlin Faulconer, Megan Mustard, Alyssa Anderson and Taylor Faulconer running a time of 4:40.32.

The HHS boys were fourth in the 4x400m relay with David Abernathy, Collin Rothwell, Ricky Coyle and Jarrod Hart running a time of 3:39.88. MHS (Daniel White, Jordan Goble, Scott Balzer and Luis Rivas) was sixth at 3:49.71.

In the high jump event, Scott Balzer (MHS) was third with a height of 5-10.00. Christian Wildey (HHS) and Chris Parker (MHS) tied for ninth at 5-04.00. Michael Tamborski (HHS) was 11th at 5-02.00.

Monique Burns (HHS) was seventh in the girls long jump with a distance of 13-07.50. Amelia Gustin (HHS) was 10th at 12-10.00. Gabby Spornhauer (MHS) was 11th at 12-04.00. Megan Mustard (MHS) was 14th at 11-05.00.

In the girls discus throw, Tara Karnes (MHS) was second at 96-09. Jamie Gustin (HHS) was sixth at 83-10. Alyssa Miley (HHS) was eighth at 70-01, and Chandra Dean was 12th at 62-02.

In the boys shotput event, Britt Wells was third for HHS at 44-08.50. Preston Wagner (MHS) was fourth at 44-06.00. Caleb Cockerill (MHS) was seventh at 42-03.50. Chris Butler (HHS) was eighth at 41-09.00.

In the girls pole vault, Leah Pence (HHS) won with a height of 8-06.00. Kacie Monroe (MHS) was sixth at 7-00.00. Grace Orr (MHS) was 11th at 6-00.00.[[In-content Ad]]
