Lions rout Green Devils

LEESBURG — Behind a one-hit pitching performance by Zach Cox, along with 15 hits, the Fairfield Lions easily defeated the North Adams Green Devils, 16-0, Thursday at FHS.

FHS scored three runs in each of the first two innings, followed by five runs apiece in the third and fourth innings for the 16 runs.

As for the pitching by Cox, he went five innings, allowing no runs on one hit and one walk, while striking out four batters in just 54 pitches.

At the plate for the Lions, Cox was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs as he extended his hit streak to 13 consecutive games.

Joey Wilson was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, while Kyle Carson went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBIs and one walk.


[[In-content Ad]]Blake Hildebrant was a perfect 2-for-2, scoring three runs, with two RBIs, one walk and a sacrifice bunt.

Cody Bennett went 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs, while teammate Nathan Crabtree was 1-for-3 with one run.

Chase Fulkerson went 1-for-2 with three runs, as he extends his hitting streak to 11 consecutive games. Quintin Schaffer scored one run, and Ryan Bates was 1-for-4 with a double and one run. Gage Montgomery went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

The Lions move to 8-5 overall, with a league mark of 3-3.

FHS will host the Ripley Blue Jays on Friday at 5 p.m. in SHL play.
