Lions lose lead, game against Blue Jays

In what was a tale of two halves Tuesday evening in Grandle Gymnasium, the visiting Ripley Blue Jays 9-4 (5-3) defeated the Fairfield Lions 7-7 (5-4) in Southern Hills League play.
The Lions came out roaring in the first half, outscoring their counterparts by a margin of 33-18 in the first half.
However, the second half would be a different story in this SHL matchup with first place on the line.
The Blue Jays went on a tear in the third quarter, scoring 24 points in that frame and 19 in the fourth to defeat the host Lions by four points.
Leading the Lions in scoring was Quentin Williams with 17 points, followed by Gage Montgomery with 11 and Blake Hildebrant with 10.
Austin Hildebrant chipped in eight, followed by Brad Clay and Cole Putnam each adding four points to the tally. Elijah Carmean rounded out the scoring with three points.
For the visiting Blue Jays, they were led by Riley Saelens with 24 points, followed by Logan Perkins with 14.
[[In-content Ad]]Fairfield will be back in action again Friday, Jan. 27 as they take on the Fayetteville Rockets. JV will start at 6 p.m., and this will be the homecoming game for the Lions.
