LC splits recent matches

The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs recently split two matches as they defeated North Adams and suffered their first loss of the season to Eastern Brown.
In their win against North Adams on Sept. 14, the Lady Mustangs won 6-1, and on the following night, they fell to the Lady Warriors 2-1 in the annual non-league match between the two Southern Hills League teams.
The loss and win moves LC to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the SHL.
The North Adams match (at NAHS) had LC gain a 2-0 lead after the first half and then saw them outscore their opponent 4-1 in the second half for a five-goal win.
Taylor Scott connected another hat-trick for the Lady Mustangs as she scored both first-half goals, one assisted by Madison Wills and later on, a third goal in the second frame with 18:26 left in the match with the assist from Hannah West.
Other second-half goals included one by Morgan Fittro, one by West and one by Taylor Little.
Emma Setty was the keeper for LC as she totaled three saves as LC out-shot the Lady Green Devils, 22-4.
"This was a good league win with several bench players getting time on the field," LC coach Dennis West said. "Taylor (Scott) continues to lead our offense."

The following evening wasn't so great for the visiting Lady Mustangs as they allowed one goal in each half for the 2-1 loss at EBHS.
Scoring for the Lady Mustangs was Scott with 31:03 left in second half off a cross kick from Fittro. Yockey and Lewis scored the two EB goals with Lewis' game-winning goal coming with 4:27 left in the match, as she beat the LC defense. Yockey tied the score at 1-1 in the first half with 8:10 left on the clock as she beat the defender off a cross kick.
Setty finished with 14 saves for LC. This time, LC was outshot at goal 15-9. Davis for EB finished with six saves.
"We struggled to do anything on offense," West said. "Our defense played well outside the two mistakes.
"Hopefully we learn from this and will be ready for Ripley on Wednesday at our field."
