LC Mustangs defend home court in OT win over Dragons

The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs won their sixth Southern Hills League game Friday night, defeating the West Union Dragons, 69-60 in overtime.  

The game was tied at 53 after regulation, as WU led the final quarter of regulation 14-9, forcing OT. In overtime, LC outscored the Dragons, 16-7.

LC (7-11) led 15-14 after the first quarter, followed with a halftime lead of 27-18 after scoring 12 points in the second frame. LC held the Dragons to six points in the second quarter.

WU won the third quarter by a score of 19-17.

The Mustangs were led in scoring by junior Tyler Davidson with 16 points. He also tallied five assists.

Dylan Noll had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.  

Austin Fawley finished with 13 points, and Dallas Puckett had 12.  

The difference in the game was free-throw shooting, as WU shot 11-of-20, and the Mustangs went 18-of-23 from the line, many of them coming in overtime at crucial situations.  

The win leaves LC at 6-5 in the SHL and 7-11 overall.[[In-content Ad]]
