LC dominates for win over West Union

DODSONVILLE — After two straight losses, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs defended their home court in dominating fashion as they defeated the West Union Lady Dragons, 64-26 Monday at LCHS.
In their second home game of the season, the Lady Mustangs (5-2) led 23-7 after the first quarter and 41-16 at the half as they outscored the visiting Lady Dragons, 18-9 in the second frame.
In the third quarter, LC added 14 points to their lead, while their defense held WUHS to four points. In the final quarter, LC led 9-6.
LC had four players score in double figures with senior Laney Lewis leading with 21 points. Lewis scored seven points in the first frame, followed by quarter scoring of six, six and two. She made one 3-pointer in the first quarter and finished with nine rebounds. She added two assists, four steals and three blocked shots to her totals.
Ali Little ended the game with 13 points as she made six two-point baskets, while adding nine rebounds, two assists, four steals and two blocks.
Emma Setty added 12 points, six rebounds, and one steal.
[[In-content Ad]]Morgan Fittro finished with 11 points, as she tallied five points in the first quarter. She added two rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Ginny Gadzinski totaled two points, one rebound and one steal. Sarah Rosselott scored one points, while adding two rebounds, three assists, four steals and two blocks.
Shelby Stewart scored two points in the win. Stewart also added one assist. Madison Wills also scored two points with one rebound and one steal. Sarah Spidel added three rebounds, one assist and two steals. Ryleigh Jackson totaled three steals and four offensive rebounds.
As a team, LC made 28 two-point baskets, one three-pointer and were 5-of-11 from the free-throw line. The Lady Mustangs also added 38 rebounds, 10 assists, 21 steals and seven blocked shots.
LC committed 19 turnovers. As a team, LC shot 35 percent from the field.
The Lady Mustangs will play again on Dec. 20 as they travel to Hillsboro.
