Lady Tigers win for 5th time this season

LONDON — The McClain Lady Tigers moved closer to the .500 mark overall for the season on Saturday afternoon by gaining a 58-26 South Central Ohio League win over the host London Lady Red Raiders.
MHS (3-3, 5-7) led 18-5 after the first frame as Shania Massie scored seven points in the quarter and Tara Karnes led the quarter with nine. Lauren Rayburn scored two points in the first frame.
Karnes outscored LHS herself as she led all scorers with 27 points, scoring no less than four points in a single quarter.
Massie followed with 17 points, with one 3-pointer coming in the third quarter.[[In-content Ad]]
In the second, MHS held LHS to zero points, while they added 13 points for a halftime advantage of 31-5. In the second quarter, Massie, Katy Unger (eight total points) and Karnes combined for the scoring.
For the third frame, London scored 15 points, while MHS scored 12, and in the final minutes, MHS outscored the host Lady Red Raiders, 15-6.
Also for MHS, Rayburn totaled four points, and Sarah Thompson added two points in the win.
The Lady Tigers were 7-of-14 from the free-throw line, while LHS was 6-of-21.
Leading the Lady Red Raiders (0-6, 3-8) in scoring was Mackenzie Minner with eight points, followed by Makayla Juergens with six and Katelyn Ray with five.
MHS will play again on Jan. 9 at Madison-Plains in SCOL play.
