Lady Tigers top London for weekend SCOL win

McClain (2-2, 4-3) took a nine-point lead after the first quarter when they outscored LHS 11-2, then a halftime lead of 30-13 with a second quarter outburst of 19 points, while the defense held their visitors to 11.

Both teams were even in the third with eight points each, and in the fourth the Lady Red Raiders netted seven points for the Lady Tigers' four.

The loss drops London to 0-7 overall and 0-5 in the SCOL. Their last five losses all have been league losses.

Leading all scorers was McClain senior Sammy Rooks with 12 points with two 3-pointers and three two-point baskets.

Brittany Mullikin followed with nine points, and Tara Karnes had eight points on the night.  

Also scoring for the Lady Tigers were: Shania Massie (5), Kate Crabtree (4) and Jenna Perie (6).  

McClain shot 44-percent from the field (18-of-53), while LHS was 8-of-38 for 21-percent from the field.

Leading LHS in scoring was Kayla Crager with eight points. Katelyn Ray followed with five points.

MHS will play in the Highland County Shootout on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at Hillsboro High School, where they will take on the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats, who are winless this season.  

London will play again on Wednesday, Dec. 21 when they travel to West Jefferson.
