Lady Tigers stay undefeated, ground Lady Golden Eagles

     GREENFIELD – The McClain Lady Tigers kept their undefeated record intact Saturday night with a big-scoring second half and pressure on the defensive side as they grounded the Madison-Plains Lady Golden Eagles 62-24 in South Central Ohio League play.

     The game was close for one quarter when the Lady Tigers (3-0 5-0) led by a score of 7-4 in the first half.

     After the opening eight minutes, it was all Lady Tigers as they allowed a combined nine points in the next two quarter to take a 21-11 lead at the half and a 42-13 advantage after three quarters. In those same quarters McClain scored 14 and 21 for a combined 35 points in the second and third.

     In the fourth MHS outscored the Lady Eagles 20-11.

     The games leading scorer was senior Kate Hammond, who finished with 12 points for MHS. Hammond also had four steals.

     MHS junior Chrissy Cobb, who made one 3-pointer, netted 10 points with a game-high five steals. As a team the Lady Tigers forced 23 steals and 34 total turnovers. MP had eight steals and forced MHS into 20 turnovers.

     Senior Shelby Buck finished with eight points, including two 3-pointers. Sophomore Jenna Perie had seven points in the win, and senior teammate Megan Saylor also finished with seven points. Senior Cortney Hyer gained six points against MP.

     Sophomore Kate Crabtree scored five points for the Lady Tigers.

     Frankie Wise, Sammy Rooks, Megan Hogle all scored two points for MHS. Alex Taylor had one point.

     MHS shot 23 of 48 from the field for 48 percent, wile MP was 10 of 32 for 31 percent.

     Saylor and Perie led MHS with eight rebounds each. MHS grabbed a total of 29 boards. MHS finished with 18 rebounds.

     Maddie Wolfe led MP with five points. Ashley Butts and Samantha Lemieux each had four points. Lauren Wilson, Caitlin Toops and Sarah Oravec each scored three points. Kyle Phillips finished with two points for MP.

     MHS had 14 fouls, MP totaled 18 fouls.

     The undefeated Lady Tigers will host London on Friday, Dec. 18 in SCOL play at McClain High School.
