Lady Tigers fall for 3rd straight time

GREENFIELD — The growing pains for the McClain Lady Tigers continued Wednesday night as they suffered their third consecutive loss in as many games this season, falling to Adena, 46-27.
The Lady Tigers (0-1, 0-3) were held to single-digit scoring in all four quarters but did lead 8-6 after the first quarter.
From that point on, though, the game belonged to the visiting Lady Warriors, with AHS outscoring MHS 12-8 in the second for a halftime lead of 18-16.
In the third, AHS added to their advantage with a 16-point quarter, while MHS was held to nine. In the fourth, it was all AHS as they totaled 12 points, while MHS scored two.
McClain tied the score twice in the score twice in the first quarter.

Leading MHS in scoring was Tara Karnes with 10 points, followed by Shania Massie with nine, as all her points came from beyond the arc. Katy Unger totaled six points, and rounding out the scoring was Lauren Rayburn with two.
The Lady Tigers were 6-of-12 from the free-throw line (50 percent).
Leading AHS in scoring was Natalie Cooper with 14, as she made two 3-pointers. Jenny Grigsby and Michelle Ackley each scored nine for Adena. Kennedy added eight, Delong totaled four and wrapping up the AHS scoring was Shea with two.
Ackley sank three 3-pointers, with Cooper connecting twice from three-point range.
AHS was 5-of-7 from the free-throw line (71 percent) and shot 32 percent from the field (18-of-47). MHS were 26-percent shooters (9-of-35).
The Lady Tigers totaled 15 turnovers with AHS committing 13.
MHS will play again on Saturday, Dec. 8 when they travel to Hillsboro for a South Central Ohio League game.
