Lady Mustangs' win streak ended by Ripley

A second-half rally where the Ripley Lady Blue Jays rarely missed their target led to the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs' third loss of the season, as they fell by a score of 56-53 Thursday at LCHS.
The loss sends LC to a 13-3 overall mark, along with a Southern Hills Athletic Conference record of 7-3, as they are in second place in Division I of the SHAC.
Lynchburg-Clay had won nine straight games.
LC led after the first quarter by a 14-7 score as Morgan Fittro, Madysyn Creighton, Ali Little, Laney Lewis and Emma Setty all scored points in the opening eight minutes.
For the next three quarters, it was Shelby Stewart, Sarah Rosselott, Lewis, Little and Creighton scoring a combined 39 points in the next three quarters, two points more than what the Lady Blue Jays scored in the second half.
Of the remaining 39 LC points, in the second through fourth quarters, 20 came in the second half as LC led at halftime 34-19, outscoring RHS 20-12 in the second frame.
[[In-content Ad]]The RHS rally began in the final 16 minutes as they outscored LC 20-10 in the third frame, and 17-9 in the fourth.
As for rebounding, LC had just seven defensive rebounds, showing just how many times RHS didn't miss when shooting the basketball. For the game, LC totaled 15 rebounds, eight assists, 11 steals and four blocked shots. LC also committed 14 turnovers.
Lewis led LC with 22 points. The senior scored five points in each of the first two quarters, while adding four points in the third and eight points in the fourth. Lewis is now eight points away from 1,000 career points.
Creighton finished with 12 points, while Little totaled nine points in the game. Stewart and Fittro each ended with three points, while Rosselott and Setty each totaled two.
The win moves RHS to 8-2 in the SHAC and 10-6 overall.
LC plays again on Monday as they travel to face Georgetown in a non-conference game.
