For the second consecutive game, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs won in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference, this time defeating the North Adams Lady Green Devils, 7-3 at NAHS.
The two SHAC wins by LC have come by a combined 17 runs in two days.
Neither team had much to brag about the first inning in terms of their hitting, but the second inning was a different story for the Lady Mustangs with Madysyn Creighton starting off the second with a hit, then a couple stolen bases. She crossed home plate on a liner up the middle by Hayley McConnaughey.
Creighton finished 3-for-4 in the SHAC game, as she also had a double and a triple in the ball game, leading to her two RBIs.
Shelby Chisman led all batters at 4-for-4, all on slap hits, including two that sailed over the second baseman's head.
"Shelby is very hard on herself, so when she wasn't taking it easy she wasn't getting the slapping down," LC head coach Spring Roberts said. "In the last couple practices, it seemed like she's really buckled down and taken off with it."
Also for LC, Lexi Waits had one hit, but she also threw two runners out on the bases.
Hannah Binkley also had one hit (a double). She was the winning pitcher, with five strikeouts.
Brittany Allen was 2-for-4. McConnaughey was also 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Chelsi Hacker finished with two RBIs and one hit.
Roberts closed by speaking about the LC defense.
"The defense was solid once again," Roberts said. Madysyn was 6 out of 6 for fielding. She was on fire (Friday)."[[In-content Ad]]
