Lady Mustangs win 6th straight; top Blanchester

BLANCHESTER — The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs made it a perfect 6-for-6 on their recent six-game road trip, as they ended their travels with a convincing 45-29 win over the Blanchester Lady Wildcats Tuesday at BHS.

The victory puts LC at 9-4 overall, as they have defeated Hillsboro, Fairfield, Paint Valley, Manchester, Ripley and BHS in their past six games.

Though LC won the game, the opening quarter didn't go in their favor, with BHS outscoring them 13-8. LC rebounded with a 10-3 second frame to take a lead of 18-16 at halftime.

LC dominated the second half, outscoring the Lady 'Cats 27-11, including quarters of 15-5 and 12-8.

[[In-content Ad]]Leading the Lady Mustangs was senior Brooke Hertlein with 22 points. Hertlein added her third double-double in the past four games with 10 rebounds (three offense), along with four steals and two blocked shots. The senior was 4-of-5 from the free-throw line with two 3-pointers and six two-point baskets.

Laney Lewis followed with 10 points and 10 rebounds (four offensive) for a double-double. The junior added six steals, five assists and two blocked shots.

Karen Hilt added nine points, with two 3-pointers, along with one rebound and one assist.

Also scoring for LC were Rosselott and Setty with two points each. Rosselott had one assist and one steal, while Setty added two rebounds and one blacked shot. Morgan Fittro had one rebound, and Madysyn Creighton added one block and one rebound.LC now stands at 9-4 overall, with a Southern Hills League mark of 4-3. They return home this Thursday when they host the North Adams Lady Green Devils in SHL play, with JV starting at 6 p.m.
