Lady Mustangs top Greyhounds

MANCHESTER — Returning to the court for the first time since last Wednesday, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs continued their winning ways, defeating the Manchester Lady Greyhounds 51-39, Thursday night at MHS.

LC now has four straight wins coming against Hillsboro, Fairfield, Paint Valley and now MHS.

The game was close after the opening quarter with LC leading 17-13 after the first quarter. LC turned their four-point lead into an eight-point halftime advantage for a lead of 29-21.

In the third, LC outscored the Lady Greyhounds 12-7, and it was MHS who outscored LC in the final eight minutes at 11-10.

Laney Lewis led with 14 points, making five two-point baskets, while going 4-of-6 from the free-throw line. Lewis added another double-double with 12 rebounds, along with seven steals, six blocks and three assists.

Brooke Hertlein added 11 points to the LC totals, along with eight steals, seven rebounds, three blocked shots and one assist.

Karen Hilt also scored 11 points, including a 3-pointer. Hilt also tallied four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Emma Setty added eight points, with three steals and three rebounds, Madysyn Creighton scored four points with two rebounds and Morgan Fittro had one points with three rebounds, one steal and one assist. Ashley Tenas added three rebounds.

LC improves to 3-3 in the Southern Hills League and 7-4 overall. The loss send Manchester to 4-2 in the SHL and 6-5 overall.

The Lady Mustangs will play again on Thursday, Jan. 12 when they travel to Ripley.
