Lady Mustangs suffer 1st loss of season

DODSONVILLE — In their biggest test to date this year, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs were unable to come out on the winning side of the scoreboard for the first time this season. Being held to single-figure scoring twice, LC fell to the North Adams Lady Green Devils, 48-36.
The Thursday Southern Hills Athletic Conference game had LC ahead 10-8 following the first frame.
From there, though, the Lady Mustangs (0-1, 4-1) totaled just 14 points in the second and third quarters combined, including a six-point third quarter.
In the second, NA outscored the host team 14-8, and in the third, NA scored 15 points. LC won the fourth quarter, 12-11.
For the game, LC totaled 31 turnovers.

Lady Mustang senior Laney Lewis continued her successful season as she gained double figures in scoring and rebounding for the fourth time this season as she scored 18 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. Lewis also collected two assists, three steals and four blocked shots.
Also scoring for LC were Ali Little with six, Morgan Fittro and Emma Setty with four points each and Sarah Rosselott and Shelby Stewart with two points each.
As a team, LC shot 29 percent from the field and were 12-of-15 from the free-throw line with Lewis making all 12 free-throws for LC (12-of-14).
LC was 12-of-30 from the two-point area and didn't make a 3-pointer in 11 attempts. The Lady Mustangs totaled 24 rebounds, with three assists and eight steals.
The Lady Mustangs will play again on Thursday, Dec. 13 at Fayetteville.
