Lady Mustangs run-rule North Adams

DODSONVILLE — The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs not only earned a 27-17, six-inning run-rule win over the North Adams Lady Green Devils Tuesday, but they did it in comeback fashion, as they rallied to score 26 unanswered runs to gain the Southern Hills League win.
"This team has a lot of heart," LC head coach Ken Carr said. "They are figuring out how to play at the varsity level. (Tuesday) we started five freshmen and three sophomores, so we are young and learning from our mistakes.
"These girls aren't giving up and are working hard."
LC finished with just four errors against NAHS.
"We have to keep building with just four errors (Tuesday) because they have hurt us this season," Carr said. "Again, I can't say enough about them … these girls are working hard and learning from their mistakes. This win is about the girls because we got down early, but they made it happen and got the win."
The outlook of the game looked bleak for the Lady Mustangs as they trailed 17-1 after the top of the second inning, with all 17 runs by the Lady Green Devils coming in the inning, as they sent a total of 22 players to the batter's box.
Trailing by 16 runs when the bottom of the second began only gave the Lady Mustangs motivation, as they began what turned out to be some very productive, run-producing innings for them, with five runs coming in the third and seven more rounding the bases in the second to make it a 16-13 game after three innings.
In the fourth, LC added one run and then broke out for eight runs in the fifth, taking a lead of 21-16 after five complete innings. LC sealed the win in the sixth with six runs, moving their lead to 10 runs, ending the game.

LC totaled 12 hits and nine walks, along with being hit by a pitch twice. They also totaled 18 RBIs.
Madysyn Creighton and Nikki Jones each totaled three hits with Creighton going 3-for-5 with a triple, hit by a pitch and three RBIs. Jones was 3-for-4 with one walk, four runs and one RBI. Jones was also the winning pitcher for LC.
Brittany Allen was 2-for-6 but collected six RBIs and one run. She was followed by Megan Pointer at 2-for-4 with a triple, one walk and two RBIs.
Also tallying hits were Mykenzie Reynolds with one hit (a triple), a sacrifice fly, one walk and three runs. Amanda Taylor was 1-for-2 (a double) with two walks, hit by a pitch, four runs and one RBI.
Sara Martin was walked twice, totaled two RBIs and scored four runs. Kirsten Banks scored one run and Julie Arnett was walked twice with two RBIs, while Emily Meyers (courtesy runner) scored three runs.
LC plays again on Wednesday as they will travel to take on the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats.
