DODSONVILLE — The past two games for the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs have been on the opposite sides of the spectrum. In the early stages of the week, LC gained their first win of the season, but on Friday, they dropped a game via run-rule.
The first win of the season was an 8-6 win on Tuesday against the West Union Lady Dragons, and the loss to end the week came by a 19-1 score to the Lady Warriors of Eastern Brown at LCHS.
"The game against West Union was they best we've played as a team all season," LC head coach Howard Creighton said. "Our defense that game was excellent."

LC even held off a rally by the Lady Dragons as WU made things interesting with a two-run seventh. The first four WU runs were scored in the first inning.
As for the LC scoring, in their first inning against West Union, Chelsi Hacker and Madysyn Creighton each scored a run, followed by a third inning where Kirsten Banks, Hacker, Creighton and MyKenzie Reynolds all crossed home plate.
In the fifth, Creighton scored her third run, and Bailey Leininger rounded the bases. Creighton led LC, going 3-for-3 with Hacker, Leininger and Hannah Magie each having two hits. Brittany Allen also had a hit, as did Banks. Reynolds and Banks drew walks.
In Friday's loss, the Lady Mustangs' lone run against EB came in the third inning where Hacker scored on a base hit by Allen. Hacker reached the bases on a one-out single.
"That inning is how you are supposed to play ball," Creighton said. "Eastern is a good team, but the way we played in the third inning is how I want us to play every game."
For the Lady Warriors, they added five runs in the first, followed by two runs in the second. EB had another five-run inning in the fourth and ended their scoring with seven runs in the fifth.
LC continues their season on Saturday as they host Huntington for a non-conference doubleheader.
When the Lady Mustangs host Whiteoak on Thursday, May 5, the game will be a benefit game for a local 3-year-old who has a form of cancer. In the game, players will wear pink socks and jerseys, while both schools are raising money for donations. For complete details, contact Lynchburg-Clay High School.
