Lady Mustangs dominate for 12th win of season

DODSONVILLE — The wins keep coming for the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs as they gained their eighth straight win Saturday by defeating the Blanchester Lady Wildcats, 67-18 in a non-league game.
LC (7-2, 12-2) scored all 67 points in the first three quarters, as neither team scored a single point in the final eight minutes.
As for the opening frame, LC jumped out with a 20-2 advantage and followed that with a halftime lead of 33-6 as they outscored their opponent 13-4 in the second frame.
The third frame was all Lady Mustangs as they added 34 points to their overall score, while Blanchester (0-13) had their best quarter of the game with 12 points.
In their current eight-game win streak, LC has outscored their opponents 452-275, averaging 56.5 points per game while giving up an average of 34.2 ppg.
Leading LC in scoring was senior Emma Setty with her best game of the season as she totaled 17 points. She scored seven points in the first quarter, followed by two points in the second and eight points in the third. She made one 3-pointer.
Senior Laney Lewis followed with 11 points, as her pursuit of 1,000 career points is down to 44 (she entered the game needing 55). Of her 11 points, her best quarter was a seven-point effort in the third frame. Lewis added three rebounds, four assists and six steals.[[In-content Ad]]
Sarah Rosselott was the third Lady Mustang to score double figures, finishing with 10 points. Rosselott scored eight of her 10 points in the third. She also collected two rebounds, two assists and one steal.
LC had eight points from Shelby Stewart. Stewart's best quarter scoring-wise was the third with six points, along with two points in the second. She made two 3-pointers and added one steal to her totals.
Ali Little scored seven points, all coming in the second quarter, including a 3-pointer. She added five rebounds (three offensive), one assist, five steals and two blocks.
Senior Ginny Gadzinski had her best game of the year with six points, as she scored three points in the first and three in the third off two 3-pointers in the non-league win. She added one rebound, one steal, one assist and one block.
Morgan Fittro added six points, with five steals and one assist. All six points by Fittro came in the first quarter.
Also for LC, Madysyn Creighton added two points, one rebound and one assist.
Senior Ryleigh Jackson had one rebound and one steal.
As a team, LC shot 49 percent from the field and 38 percent from the free-throw line (5-of-13). LC was 6-of-11 from the 3-point line. Defensively, LC totaled 14 rebounds, along with team totals of 11 assists, 11 turnovers, 21 steals, six fouls and three blocked shots.
The LC JV team also won their game against Blanchester.
LC will host the McClain Lady Tigers on Monday with JV starting at 6 p.m.
